Nominate someone for Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

The Ohio Department of Aging is accepting nominations for outstanding individuals to be inducted into the 2014 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. Individuals and organizations interested in nominating a neighbor, colleague, family member or friend may download a nomination form or submit a nomination online by clicking here.

An induction ceremony will be held in May.  Nominations are accepted all year long, but to maximize your nominee's chances of being included in the May 2014 induction ceremony, please sumbit your nominations by March 1.  

"So many of our older Ohioans - our Golden Buckeyes - are defined not by their age, but by the good work they have done and continue to do," said Bonnie K. Burman, Sc.D., director of the department. "The Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame honors the vital roles our elders play in their communities, across the state and nationwide, while it promotes the benefits of active, productive and purposeful living at all points in our lives."

To be eligible for the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame:

  • Individuals must be age 60 or older.
  • A native-born Ohioan or a resident of Ohio for at least ten years.
  • Posthumous nominations will be accepted.
  • Nominee must be aware of and consent to this nomination.
  • Self-nominations will not be accepted.

The Ohio Department of Aging accecpts noiminations year around, but to maximize the chance of your nominee being selected for this year’s induction, please submit your nomination by March 1. Nominations after that date will be considered as time and merit allows, but may be deferred for consideration next year. The 2014 induction will be held in May.

Nominees will be evaluated on the impact of their current contributions, or a continuation of contributions begun before age 60, in areas of endeavor including, but not limited to:

  • Arts/Literature
  • Business/Technology 
  • Education, Health/Fitness
  • Community Activism
  • Science/Medicine
