COA opens satellite office in Wilmington to better serve residents of Clinton County

To better serve older adults and people with disabilities in Clinton County and to help them remain independent in their homes, Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio (COA) has opened a satellite office at 2241 Rombach Ave. in Wilmington. The new office allows COA staff who administer the Clinton County Elderly Services Program to work closer to the clients they serve and visit on a regular basis.

“Our care coordinators are dedicated to working closely with the people they serve and it is important that we give them what they need to provide the highest possible level of care,” said Ken Wilson, Council on Aging Director of Program Operations. “The decision to open an office in the community was an easy one.”

COA administers the Clinton County Elderly Services Program through a contract with the Clinton County Commissioners. The program is funded through the March 2012 voter-approved renewal of a 1.5-mill senior services levy. It provides Meals on Wheels, housekeeping help, medical transportation, personal care and other basic services to help older adults remain independent in their homes. Last year, the program served 508 seniors throughout Clinton County.

The new office will also house COA staff serving Clinton County residents enrolled in PASSPORT, an in-home care program for older adults who are eligible for Medicaid and residents receiving care through Assisted Living, an intermediate level of care program for low-income older adults. In 2013, 123 Clinton County residents received help from PASSPORT and seven received help through the Assisted Living program.
