Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio has received a generous grant from Aetna to help develop initiatives that will strengthen the connection between health care and long-term care.

The $25,000 award was presented at Council on Aging’s annual meeting March 9 at Sharonville Convention Center.  It was presented by two representatives of Aetna Better Health of Ohio, Inc.: Tony Solem, Chief Executive Officer, and Jason Smith, Chief Operating Officer.

“We are so appreciative of this grant from Aetna,” said Suzanne Burke, President and CEO of Council on Aging. “It is important for our non-profit to have discretionary revenue to take advantages of opportunities to spread the good work we do.  One way is to improve the connection between health care settings, such as hospitals, and long-term care services that people need when they return home. This is an effective way to help people with complex health and social service needs.“

“We are so pleased to support the efforts of the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio to increase connectivity between health care systems,” said Jason Smith, chief operating officer of Aetna Better Health of Ohio. “We are committed to work to improve access to care, quality of care, positive member experiences and affordability of care.”
