OAGE accepting nominations for Practitioner of the Year Award

Deadline to recognize excellence in gerontology research and partnerships is Oct. 31

For the 13th consecutive year, the Association of Gerontology and Education (OAGE), with the support of the Ohio Department of Aging, is presenting the OAGE Practitioner of the Year Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that either have improved services to older adults through research and evaluation or have developed noteworthy partnerships with institutions of higher learning (e.g., universities, community colleges, technical schools) for the betterment of Ohio's elders.

Examples of initiatives eligible for the Practitioner of the Year Award include student intern and mentorship programs; intergenerational programs that benefit students and older adults; use of performance measures to improve services; partnerships with institutions of higher learning to improve or expand services; research that results in improved practices or new services; and partnerships aimed at expanding the health and long-term care labor forces.

Nominations will be accepted via the OAGE website through Oct. 31, 2016.

The award will be presented at the OAGE annual spring conference April 21, 2017 at the University of Toledo.

The 2015 recipients of the OAGE Practitioner of the Year Award were United Church Homes and Nina R. Keller, Assistant Director, Area Agency on Aging, District 7.
