Marne Kappes a resident of Wyoming, received the Outstanding Caregiver Award from Council on Aging for her extraordinary efforts in caring for her mother, who has advanced Alzheimer’s.

Kappes was honored at Council on Aging’s annual meeting March 15 at the Sharonville Convention Center.  In heartfelt and moving words, she spoke about the challenges and joys of caregiving.

Marne was nominated by her daughter Tayler Warmack, who describes her as selfless, persistent and faithful to her mother’s care. After the passing of her step-father, Marne knew how important it was for her mother to stay in her home, so she moved in with her mother, leaving her own home and care for her mother around the clock. Marne always makes sure her mom has a high quality of life…providing healthy food, mental stimulation, personal and social interaction and a sense of family.

“Family caregivers are at the center of the entire system of caring for frail seniors and people with disabilities” said Council on Aging President and CEO Suzanne Burke. “Our services supplement their efforts and support them so they can keep their loved ones at home. We have deep respect for what they do.”
