The Community Resources and Information Department (CR&I) is a central source of information for seniors, caregivers, professionals and other community members. Our call center answers questions from the community at large and maintains information on various types of community resources for the aging and disabled populations. The department also includes a coordinator for the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) who is available to: help seniors make decisions about Medicare coverage; facilitate appeals for denied coverage; and act as a third party mediator between patients and providers when coverage problems arise.
Additionally, CR&I develops and coordinates a number of special events throughout the year. The department's speaker's bureau is also available to provide education and information on a variety of aging-related topics to both professionals and the general public.
The department produces several publications, including Council on Aging's quarterly newsletter, New Directions Quarterly, an annual calendar, and the Help4Seniors Resource Directory.
CR&I staff also work to develop new programs that meet the needs of today's seniors. One such program is Senior Journeys through Life with Clavinova Connection. The program uses a Clavinova - a unique digital piano that lets even those without prior music experience play their favorite songs - to encourage creativity and promote physical and social wellness. |
