Council on Aging’s annual report details services to more than 22,000 individuals

2018 Annual Report Cover pageCouncil on Aging’s (COA) 2018 annual report includes data, photos and personal stories that demonstrate our important role in the region. In 2018, we provided in-home and community-based care services to more than 22,000 older adults and individuals with disabilities and responded to nearly 50,000 phone and web inquiries.

The report provides information about Council on Aging’s role in the community, including the number of individuals served by program, costs and annual highlights, including: replacement of an outdated care management software platform; expansion of a program that provides support as older adults are discharging from hospitals and nursing homes; expansion of a program to feed seniors in an under-served area; and local efforts to help alleviate the effects of the nationwide home health aide shortage.

As the Area Agency on Aging for Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton and Warren counties, Council on Aging is in our community every day, working with seniors, people with disabilities, their families and caregivers.  In 2018, COA:

  • Provided support to more than 22,000 people to help them remain independent in their homes
  • Responded to 47,431 requests for information and referral to community resources
  • Contracted with 234 organizations to provide almost 1.2 million hours of in-home care
  • Provided more than 1.4 million meals to meet the nutritional needs of vulnerable older adults through congregate and meals on wheels programs
  • Supported continuity of care and the social well-being of seniors and people with disabilities by providing 241,926 transportation trips for medical and senior center activities
  • Helped 836 hospital and nursing home patients regain independence in home- and community-based settings through supportive transitional care programs
  • The report includes other highlights of 2018, such as COA’s annual education events – Forum on Aging and Own Your Future; staff awards and recognition; the launch of the organization’s redesigned website; and client stories that demonstrate the personal impact of COA’s programs and services.

In addition to our organization annual report, COA also produces annual reports for the Elderly Services Programs in Butler, Clinton, Hamilton, and Warren counties. These reports include client stories and photos along with detailed demographic and financial information. COA administers the programs via contracts with county commissioners. The reports will be available later this spring.
