COA materials collageCouncil on Aging (COA) has redesigned and updated its popular Guide to Programs and Services. Copies may be requested by contacting COA’s Communications Department at

The “Guide” has been resized to a more convenient brochure format and will easily fit into standard size brochure holders. It includes information about COA’s role in the community, as well as eligibility guidelines and how to apply for services. Detailed information is offered for each program administered by Council on Aging, including the Elderly Services Program, Medicaid waiver programs and transitional care programs. Information is also included about COA’s Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC), Caregiver Support and wellness programs.  In the near future, the Guide will be available in Russian, Spanish and Nepali. These versions will be printable from COA's website.

In addition to the Guide to Programs and Services, COA’s referral “RX pad” is back in stock. The RX pad is a tool for organizations that frequently make referrals for COA programs and services. It is available for fire departments, hospital social workers, doctor’s offices, skilled care providers and others to use if they are working with individuals or families that may benefit from any of Council on Aging’s programs. The RX pad was developed in 2016 with input from area fire departments and hospital staff.

The RX pad is not an actual prescription for COA services. It is designed to be used in two situations:

  1. When a professional plans to make a referral (by phone or COA’s website) on someone’s behalf and wants to have something to give the individual or family as a reminder that they will soon receive a phone call from Council on Aging; or
  2. When a professional does not plan to make a referral but wants to encourage the individual or family to contact COA to discuss care options

The RX pad can be used in conjunction with the Guide to Programs and Services and also includes a tip sheet for making referrals.

Copies of the RX pad, COA Guide – and other COA materials – can be requested through COA’s Communications Department at
