Living with memory challenges doesn’t have to lead to a lack of meaningful social connections. In fact, creating supportive environments for those living with dementia is the entire focus of the Center for Memory Support and Inclusion (CMSI).
CMSI is part of Episcopal Retirement Services, dedicated to creating dementia-inclusive environments where individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia – and their care partners – feel supported, understood and genuinely welcome.
CMSI offers programs designed to promote social connection and stimulate creativity. In addition to supporting individuals with dementia, the programs also provide respite for the people who care for them. Programs address a wide range of activities, including dance, music therapy and art. Some programs leverage partnerships with cultural institutions such as art museums, the Civic Garden Center and the Cincinnati Zoo to foster joy, creativity and community engagement.
In addition to social programming, CMSI provides education and support, including dementia-specific trainings for caregivers, businesses, and first responders. These trainings are designed to build awareness and promote compassionate interactions.
To aid in navigating the memory support journey, CMSI recently updated its Dementia Guide: a free resource packed with practical tips, emotional support and day-to-day tools to help families feel confident and connected throughout their dementia journey. To access the guide, click here.
Countless individuals have been supported through all CMSI programs which embody CMSI’s mission to foster dignity, belonging, and quality of life for individuals living with dementia, their families and the community at large.
