Warren County Community Services helps older adults in many ways

Each and every day, I enjoy being part of an agency that provides many avenues to help our county’s aging population. Warren County Community Services, Inc (WCCS) offers a variety of programs for older adults, including one of my areas of expertise – Supportive Services, which connects older adults to WCCS programs.

As part of my job as Senior Services Program Supervisor, Aging Services, I value the way we focus on the ENTIRE older adult. We know that in order to meet older adults’ needs, more than one service may be needed and communication among the groups is crucial.

For example, if a transportation driver notices a client is in need of food, they contact us at Supportive Services about supplying a supplemental food box.

Here’s another example of WCCS meeting multiple needs: Our 741 Senior Center provides camaraderie and relief from social isolation. Some of our 741 Center members are only able to participate in group activities because of our Senior Transportation services – otherwise they would not be able to socialize outside of their homes.

Yet another example of WCCS programs working together: Recently a gentleman contacted the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) [part of our Supportive Services] for assistance with his malfunctioning air conditioner. Not only did HEAP help to secure funding and a working unit, Supportive Services visited his home to help him find additional financial assistance through a grant application.
