|Laurie Petrie, Council on Aging’s President’s Award Winner
Laurie Petrie, retired Vice President of Communications for Council on Aging, was honored by the organization for her ten years of service establishing and leading our Communications Department.
She received the Council on Aging’s President’s Award as an honor from its Board of Trustees and staff. The award was presented by Board Chairman Stan Williams at the organization’s annual meeting March 15 at the Sharonville Convention Center.
As Council on Aging’s first Communications Director, Laurie literally started at ground zero. There was no Communications Department; no communications team. She hit the ground running and did not stop until January 6 of this year.
Laurie dove head first into learning the business of Council on Aging and understanding the needs of our clients. She crafted messages that helped our community, our partners and our legislators understand and get behind our mission. Through the words and faces of our clients, she shared Council on Aging’s story and helped build support that passed levies, rallied people to action, and gave a voice to vulnerable people.
“In everything that Laurie did for, and on behalf of Council on Aging, said Council on Aging President and CEO, Suzanne Burke, “her commitment to our mission of helping people to remain independent in their homes and communities was always evident.”
