Wish List purchases will brighten the holidays for area seniors and people with disabilities

November 24, 2019

Holiday Wish List graphicPeople across southwestern Ohio and beyond can help make the holidays a little brighter for Council on Aging (COA) clients by purchasing requested items from COA’s Holiday Wish List. The Wish List, available on Amazon at: http://a.co/geC9m69, includes basic items such as personal care, household and clothing items, as well as unique items that will help enrich the lives and warm the hearts of area seniors and people with disabilities in need. The list was compiled by Council on Aging’s care management staff.  COA’s care managers have a special understanding of their clients’ needs. They understand clients’ social and economic circumstances, as well as personal interests and needs.  Wish List items cannot be purchased or provided via publicly-funded programs administered by COA or through Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance. In other words, these are items our clients typically go without because they do not have the means to purchase or acquire the items on their own. “We wanted to do something special for the individuals we serve this holiday season,” said Suzanne Burke, Council on Aging CEO.  “Because of financial circumstances, many of our clients go without things most of us would take for granted. We hope the community will join us in helping to make their holidays a little brighter this season.” To view the Wish List and purchase an item (or two or three!), click here: http://a.co/geC9m69.
Here are a few tips for a successful purchase:
  • During the checkout process, be sure to select “Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio’s Gift Registry Address.”
  • Please do not add gift wrapping to your purchase as we will need to open the items when they arrive at COA so they can be sorted and delivered to clients.
One of the most commonly requested items is Kroger gift cards. Many of COA’s clients live on fixed incomes and must often make difficult financial choices when it comes to their monthly budgets. With a Kroger gift card, they can purchase food, toiletries, household staples and even pet supplies. Kroger gift cards are included on the Wish List but must be purchased via Kroger’s website or in store. The gift cards can be dropped off or mailed to Council on Aging’s offices: 175 Tri County Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45246.
You can double the impact of your purchase when you use AmazonSmile to make your purchase.  COA is registered as a charitable organization on AmazonSmile. Use this link to shop at Amazon and 0.5% of your eligible purchases will go to Council on Aging – at no extra cost to you! Purchases through AmazonSmile are not tax deductible.
