Federal government ends SNAP emergency payments

March 1, 2023

During the pandemic, people who were eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits received an emergency allotment payment each month, along with their regular benefit payment.

The United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services recently announced that these emergency allotments would end in February 2023.

This change will result in a significant reduction in benefits for SNAP recipients effective March 1. The following local resources may help individuals who are looking for additional support during this time.
