ARCS Family Violence Program provides:

ARCS provides each sheltered family with a safe place to make decisions and to discuss often complicated relationships, dire financial and legal circumstances, health problems, contradictory feelings and confused thinking.  Each resident is aided in setting his/her direction and goals through a detailed case plan that reflects the diversity of each residents needs, circumstances, and future direction.  Each is informed of domestic violence dynamics, dangers, and health risks for them and their children through groups and individual sessions.

Adult Protective Services (APS) works with Hamilton County’s elderly residents to help keep them safe.

APS operates (513) 421-LIFE (5433), Hamilton County’s 24-hour line for reporting elder abuse, neglect (by self or others) and exploitation of Hamilton County residents age 60 and older.

When calls are received by APS, caseworkers evaluate any risk to the safety and well-being of alleged victims. If they find that there is a risk, caseworkers work with families, social service agencies and other community resources to meet the person’s needs and to improve the situation.

APS caseworkers cannot force older adults to accept help. Mentally competent adults have the right to refuse APS assistance and intervention. APS will also not force competent older adults into nursing homes. When it is possible, APS will work with elderly adults to ensure they receive the help they need to stay in their own home.

All calls to 421-LIFE (5433) are confidential.

Adult Protective Services (APS) receives complaints concerning the possible abuse, neglect or financial exploitation of impaired elderly adults living in Butler County. The goal of APS is to help remove the factors that are causing the mistreatment while introducing services to improve the person’s care, thus enabling the senior to live safely and independently in the community for as long as possible. Every effort is made to inform the client of their options and help them make decisions that are in their best interest.

How To File A Complaint

If you believe you have been delayed or denied services because of your race, color, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or national origin, you may file a complaint within 180 days of the incident or treatment. Clermont Senior Services is the exclusive contract agency investigating allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of older adults in Clermont County. This state mandated program is provided in conjunction with the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services. When abuse, neglect or exploitation is suspected, please contact the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Service Intake line at 513-732-7173.

 Adult Protective Services assist those persons 18 years of age or older who because of mental or physical impairments, can not provide for their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter or medical care, or protect themselves from neglect or hazardous situations, and who have no one willing and able to help in a responsible manner.

These services include:

• Assess potential adult abuse or neglect and identify needs

• Arrange for appropriate community services

• Casework counseling and case management

• Homemaker / personal care services

• Money management

• Legal interventions

• Assistance in obtaining entitlements and other general benefits and services

• Financial exploitation task force (education, training and service coordination

There is no income limit to receive these services.

Purpose

Adult Protective Services are provided to the elderly who are in danger of harm and / or are unable to protect themselves. Greene County Department of Job and Family Services is mandated to investigate and evaluate all reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation of adults age 60 and over.  

Adults who experience abuse, neglect or exploitation are offered supportive services, as available, for protection and self-sufficiency.

The Greene County Department of Job and Family Services oversees a variety of public programs that provide benefits and services to individuals and families.

421-LIFE (5433) is Hamilton County`s 24-hour elder abuse and neglect reporting line. Since 1981, Ohio has required counties to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect and exploitation involving adults 60 and older.

Adult Protective Services (APS), a part of the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services, operates 421-LIFE. APS workers receive and investigate reports, identify risks to the safety and well-being of alleged victims, and work to improve situations by connecting older adults with social services and other resources. APS workers sometimes make referrals to police for criminal investigation.

APS workers cannot force older adults to take help. Mentally competent adults have the right to refuse APS assistance and intervention.

What Pro Seniors Offers
Pro Seniors Legal Hotline serves the State of Ohio.  By calling the Pro Seniors Legal Hotline, Ohio residents age 60 or older can receive free assistance over the telephone with a variety of legal or long-term care problems. Legal Help
If you have a legal problem that cannot be resolved over the telephone, the Legal Hotline may refer you to a Pro Seniors staff attorney if you live in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton or Warren County. Pro Seniors’ staff attorneys handle problems that many private attorneys do not, such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, other government benefits and pensions.  The Legal Hotline may also refer you to a private attorney who has agreed to accept cases at a reduced fee for clients with limited income.

Long-term Care Ombudsmen
If you have a complaint about a nursing home, Pro Seniors can help.  The long-term care ombudsmen will investigate and work with you to resolve your concerns about nursing facilities in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, and Warren counties.  Pro Seniors ombudsmen also handle complaints about home care and adult care facilities.  You can find more information about the Ombudsman program by selecting the Ombudsman link. Volunteer Opportunities

The Warren County Department of Human Services is the mandated agency responsible for providing protective services for those adults sixty (60) years of age or older at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Any referral of an adult at risk will be investigated by the Adult Protective Service Worker. She will work with the adult, family and neighbors to reduce or eliminate any risk and arrange for services to assist the adult to remain safely in his/her home. Protective services such as casework, medical care, guardianship and legal services, food, clothing, and in-home care are utilized to prevent or reduce conditions causing endangerment to the older adult. If it is determined that the adult is incapacitated or unable to remain safely in his/her home, then the APS worker will work to determine the least restrictive setting and, if necessary, petition the probate court for assistance in protecting the adult.

The Warren County Department of Job and Family Services is a county, state and federally supported agency responsible for basic financial, medical and social services programs that are mandated by the State Legislature. Programs are available to ensure that no one is forced to go without food, clothing, shelter, medical care and necessary life sustaining services because of lack of resources. Along with those necessary support services, Warren County Human Services provides education and training to help individuals find quality jobs enabling them to move from short term assistance to independence and self-sufficiency in the shortest time possible.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) was launched on June 15, 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older persons by raising awareness of the cultural, social, economic and demographic processes affecting elder abuse and neglect.

In addition, WEAAD is in support of the United Nations International Plan of Action acknowledging the significance of elder abuse as a public health and human rights issue. WEAAD serves as a call-to-action for individuals, organizations, and communities to raise awareness about elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

The YWCA provides safe protective shelter, crisis line assistance, and necessary supportive services for battered women and their children to move them toward self-sufficiency, independence and freedom from abuse.
