Appeals Process for Social Security

If your application for Social Security benefits is denied or if any of your benefits are reduced or terminated, you have the right to appeal the decision. The appeals process has four steps:

1. Reconsideration
2. Administrative Hearing
3. Review by Appeals Council
4. Federal Court

Call the Social Security Office as soon as you receive the denial and a representative will help you with your request for reconsideration.
