Next phase of MyCare Ohio begins in October

In early October, the Ohio Department of Medicaid sent another round of MyCare Ohio letters to consumers. There were two different letters.

One letter is for new enrollees, that is, people who became eligible for MyCare Ohio on or after July 1, 2014. It tells them they must enroll in a managed care plan for their Medicaid and Medicare benefits. The letter explains the process, including the choice to opt-out of a MyCare Ohio plan for their Medicare benefits.

The other letter is for current MyCare Ohio members. Current members are receiving Medicaid benefits via MyCare Ohio. The letter explains that it is time to enroll in a plan for their Medicare benefits. For Medicare, members will be automatically enrolled in their current MyCare Ohio health plan unless they opt out. To opt out, they must call the Medicaid Consumer Hotline.

For the MyCare Ohio demonstration project to be effective, it is important for members to choose the same health plan for both their Medicaid and Medicare benefits.
