Older adults may struggle to feel part of their community for many reasons. Perhaps there is a need to spend more time at home, which may mean being alone. Maybe there aren’t as many opportunities to be with others. Volunteering can help you find your purpose, meet new friends and provide a sense of community.
Volunteers at Clermont Senior Services (CSS) play an integral part in supporting Clermont County’s older adults. Our mission at CSS is to improve the quality of life for older adults by providing a broad range of home and community-based services, enabling them to remain as active and independent as possible. We could not complete our mission without the dedication and compassion of volunteers in our community.
These kind-hearted people deliver food, purchase groceries, do minor home repairs, act as legal guardian, provide free entertainment, and purchase goods for our pantry that make a direct, positive impact on older adults in Clermont County. Here’s what some of our customers said about the volunteers that serve them:
“Peggy is awesome! I wouldn’t trade her for nothing! She’s been with me for a while and knows how to shop for me and substitute what I need.”
“Cindy is the best there is! She shares pictures of her family and their events. She has sent me special post cards when on vacation.”
With volunteering, appreciation is not a one-way street. Here’s what our volunteers have said about their service:
“Like all the other volunteers, our payback is seeing people happy; seeing people smile and have fun and participate!”
“I benefit so much from being a meals-on-wheels volunteer. It is as if you’re visiting your second family. I feel privileged to deliver meals to seniors.”
