Ken Wilson wins award from Miami University Scripps Gerontology Center

Ken Wilson, Council on Aging’s Vice President of Program Operations, received the W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Alumni Award from the Miami University Scripps Gerontology Center. The award recognizes outstanding leadership in the field of aging. It was presented April 8 at the W. Fred ("Doc") Cottrell Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series.

Wilson received his master`s degree in Gerontology from the Scripps Center at Miami University. He came to Council on Aging in 1994. As Vice President of Program Operations, Wilson is responsible for several departments at Council on Aging, including non-Medicaid long-term care services (Elderly Services Program); Provider Services; and Aging and Disabilities Resource Connections.

His publications include journal articles on quality and outcome measurement, the development of the Provider Quality and Performance Report, Ohio`s Aging Fact Book, and county demographic profiles of the older population. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and meetings on aging policy, strategic planning, outcome measurement, and quality.

Wilson’s many community activities including serving on the Board of Trustees of Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities.

Cottrell taught at Miami from 1930 to 1974 and served as Scripps' initial director. The award named for him was initiated in 1992, and annual honorees are selected for their scholarship, leadership and humanitarianism in the field of aging.
