COA appoints new Manager in Training

Council on Aging continues to invest from within and foster leadership and management skills in its employees with the promotion of Hannah Hindle to the agency’s Management Development Program. Hindle becomes the program’s third “Manager in Training,” joining Jeanne Wallman and Danielle Amrine, who began the program in October.
The nine-month program prepares employees who have demonstrated a strong capacity for leadership to move into management and project leadership roles. With the guidance of a supervisor and a mentor, they receive hands-on management and leadership experience and exposure to all aspects of the organization.
Ken Wilson, Director of Program Operations, said Hindle was selected because of her desire to grow and the leadership qualities she demonstrated as a PASSPORT care manager and team educator.
“Hannah has shown business acumen for quality and improvement of procedures,” he said. “She shows a lot of initiative in everything that she does.”
Hindle is pursuing an MBA which she believes will complement what she expects to learn through COA’s Management Development Program.
“In addition to leadership and management courses, I’m learning other skills such as communications, statistics and finance,” she said. “It really affects the way I see things and will be a great addition to my LSW.”
According to Wilson, Hindle will help implement COA’s new care management model (Integrated Care Coordination Teams) and MyCare Ohio, the new managed care system for low income Medicare beneficiaries. She will also lead a project to improve COA’s process for monitoring and reporting client complaints and incidents.
“I’m looking forward to working outside of my comfort zone and developing a comprehensive understanding of the workings of the entire organization,” Hindle said.
